My Least Favorite Things About Playing Golf

To go along with the last blog post, I wanted to also list some things I don’t necessarily love about playing golf as a girl. As a reminder, I didn’t grow up playing golf, these are just some things I’ve noticed I don’t enjoy as I’ve started to play for fun.

  1. Players Per Round: I feel like we’re stuck in the olden days! This really only applies if you’re a non-member public course player, but I wish we could book 2 player rounds. For me, sometimes getting paired with two other people can be intimidating. When we don’t have a group of four ourselves, we usually try to book last minute when there are 4 slots available, but the likelihood of someone else booking the other two is slim. It’d be so much nicer to be able to choose 2 people and be able to plan in advance.
  2. Male Dominated: So I’m sure you’ve heard me say… and although times are slowly changing, it doesn’t get easier to look around and see only men! There have been more times than I can count where the entire driving range or groups around me are all men. Love it for them, but wish it were different for us.
  3. Timing: I don’t mind being out there for four hours to play, but what I can’t stand is waiting to hit our next shots or if there’s a back up and the next group is waiting for us to hit our shots. It makes me feel rushed, and I often make more mistakes when there’s a group of men watching as I hit my next shot. It makes me feel flustered and takes away part of the fun experience for me.
  4. Golf Choices for Women (duh!): Pro shops are filled with clothes, hats, clubs, etc. for men, but oftentimes their selection of women’s stuff is so much smaller, which makes sense. But, I’m looking forward to the days where women are more common on the course and we have just as many options as the men in pro shops. We recognize our shop is small right now, but we’re actively creating and designing out new products we hope to release soon!

None of these are enough to ever make me not want to continue to play, just a few common things I’ve noticed that get in the way of being 100% comfortable and happy on the course.

Can’t wait to see more ladies out there soon!
